The house is done...  now to get on with doing the grisaille of the rest of the background, so the theming can better be viewed...

Finished the gardens and did the rock for the house... and added a few of the paddy terraces on the bend beyond...

An update, getting more of the gardens colored...

Am back on the ink painting, now coloring the gardens...  the water is cyan, the garden frames are burnt sienna and sepia for the vertical edges, and the rocks are burnt sienna with flesh overlaid...

The Final Lure...

...is "Lola Lur-ynne", the one laid [on the shelf, of course]...   now all  that is left is to do the shelf and then find the frame, so can set up for doing the background to fitting the frame...

And the blending has been done, along with greening the next rock projection...  as can be noted, most the greens are just the light green and emerald green, with just the sap on the far right edge..

"Jaynie" Has Outed...

After refixing her once smeared make-up, this swinging lass has made it to the line-up...

The Sap green is now laid, and next is to blend into a curve the foresting...

And, since the right section is in good shade, like the greens on the left section of the work, darkening that part is needed first before laying color on that...

And the last section of this grisaille section has finally been done... so now - on with the coloring...

The first one is now done...   there will be more refinements when the others are in, but this will do for now...

Transferring...

Instead of waiting until can get the wanted frame, have gone ahead and did a transfer of the image to the end of a Stonehenge sheet, so to allow working on it as well leaving an open-endness to the final size of the rendering...

As a break from routine, am starting a still-life in colored pencil of lures...

Almost there, just one more rock to get down... then the grisaille is done and coloring can begin...

Had to fight some dragons before could continue with this, so not get much done...   still , managed to get the lush garden down...   now  to get on with the overhead rock and the eagle house on top, overlooking everything...

The past few days, my hand has been quite achy, so progress on this has been a bit slower than wanted...  still, some rendering has been accomplished with the foresting...   when it, and the last garden [the lush one] is finished, along with the crag of rock on which sits the 'eagle' house overlooking everything, then this section will be done in grisaille, and the coloring can begin...

One more garden to go - the lush one [where the waterfall is impacting thru the hole], then they're done, leaving the forest on the right to do, and the 'eagle' house above it all, overlooking it all...  and that section be grisailled...

The great thing about oriental gardens is that they are so consciously designed thematically, even as they impart a sense of the world-aside in their naturalness...  in my terracing these gardens, am thus able to sectionalize them, too, allowing for a shifting of emphasis when going from one to another garden - sort of as if a 'garden for every mood and need' ...  at least that is the idea...

The operation was a success, and I am back home, so if healing goes well, will in a few days be back to work on this...

It has been a bit of work getting this section down, as my upcoming hip replacement operation has been much on my mind, along with all the attending factors involved with it.... but have managed this much of the far shore of the canyon vista... 


the next section will be on the right, covering a number of gardens terracing the slopes...  and being topped by an 'eagle' house overlooking it all...

For the next set of rock, am using burnt sienna ink instead of red earth...  will still be using raw sienna for the lit areas, tho...

Finishing the greens, then turned to the rock, layering first red earth over the shade areas, then raw sienna over the lit areas, adding a layering of flame orange flittered here and there over the lit areas...

Layering the first group of trees with emerald green, stippling with a crow quill nib, then layered light green over the lit areas... the next group, first stippled the light green over all but the shade parts, then layered the emerald green over everything, going into the shade areas too [this section in progress, so to show the stages and how they look]...

After delays due to other factors not related to rendering, have continued on with the grisaille...

As can be seen, there is already deviation from the initial sketch...

This is just an initial sketch, used to lay out possibles... the actual grisaille will be somewhat, tho not all that much, different from this...

Still just the corner to finish off layering in the emerald green - then, on to the vista, 'my bigger back yard', beginning with the left canyon wall, then the terraced gardens... in blue grisaille, of course...

Getting the bloop to mesh into the rest of the grasses proved a wee harder to achieve, but think is accomplished now, and can get on with the rest of the grasses, so can get on with the rest of the rendering - that vast vista seen from my back yard...
