"Lunar Longing"

I've taken a break from "Viewing Tomorrows", tho intend to finish it, just later, and instead have done a different work - 20"x32" pen and colored inks...

am sketching out the background, which is clear in my head, but have been having problems getting it to having the distance the immense space elevator needs for proper placement...

been away on vacation - now back to working on this... and have finished the mid ground rocks, leaving just the lone pillar to be done with... then can get on with doing the background...

and the foreground rocks are done... now for the plateau and the figure, then be on the rest of the rocks, and the blooms...

having finished lightening the foreground rocks, m now layering in the next color, flame orange acrylic ink...

finally over my cold enough to get back to working on my painting... adding more detail to the rocks...

 slowly going, but moving along - much of the rock is with diluting the antelope ink, and yes sopping up excess when put too much water on [for this, the painting is on the drafting table, turned sideways so the left side is slightly downwards, as the table is slightly tilted - and am using the larger nib for this], and am in effect using the nib as if a brush, spreading the diluted ink over greater territory, yet trying to keep it so the detail comes thru...

am working my way across the bottom foreground to the left end - the vegetation is mostly done, just florals  to be added, and another layering of color over the part previously done, sharpening the 'rocky'ness...

 finished glazing the colors of the figure...

and am now beginning glazing colors of the rock vegetation...

 am beginning something different - a brush painting, something not done in many years... am using acrylic paints and on a primed and glazed canvas...  grisaille is pthalo blue...
