 The interior of the tree is antelope brown...

This is viewing the whole board, seeing how the tree and ledge are placed... that is red earth for the ledge...

 The 'two colors' are lemon yellow and raw sienna...

having finished the foreground grisaille, am not in the process of glazing color over it before proceeding further...   for the leaves, am using sap green, emerald green, light green, and lemon yellow...  am presently using antelope brown for the wood, and anticipate at least two more colors to be glazed over before moving on to the rock pillar mid ground...

and yes, that is a crow quill nib being used...

Conquest of Loneliness - WIP

 New project, a sequel to the old mural Curse of Loneliness... the original was on pre-primed roll canvas, with acrylic paint - 4'x8'...

The sequel will be on acid-free foamboards and using FW Acrylic inks, and intend this to be two 30"x40" boards, making a diptych... [tho might have to change the board sizes to 27"x40" so can get frames to fit - will see]...

As soon as the grisaille of the foreground is down, will get on with revising the rock pillar behind, giving it growth....

but will also begin glazing colors over the foreground, thus doing this in sections, rather than  the full grisaille and then glazing colors...

 Moving along, getting the waterway down, using the same Prussian blue as use in the grisaille...

except for the window yet to complete, am done with the left side and now on the waterway - and showing that in a close-up to show the technique using the large pen/nib shown...

and think only one more day on the buildings and it'll just be the waterway and boats left to do...

getting into the left side now, and finishing off mid rear windows - either by sky reflecting or interior glow...

 and except for putting in the reflection of the sky in the windows, am done with the right and center of the painting, having added raw sienna to the ink colors...

now to get on with the left side...

Been spending time doing transfers of images and other matter to my refurbished eMachine, as its files were corrupted and thus lost all in it... thankfully, most is online here and there, so tho many not in its original pixel sizes, can at least get images of what I need... new ones will be posted shortly.....

finished up the right side, essentially, and am now on the rear block stippling the skyscrapers with process cyan and using the next to fine nib, as the fine one was worn doing all the sky and reflections...  that is red earth overlaid with antelope brown streaks on the lower right, and the door is Indian yellow overlaid again with antelope brown streaks...

Moving along here - getting the reflections in the windows almost done, and the building sections...  then will move to the open ones in the rear, then the ghostly skyscrapers - then get on with the left side buildings, and finally the waterway itself...  taking a good time, but is coming to life in a nice manner, and is worth the trials and tribulations...

Continuing on, adding in the process two more colors of inks - indian yellow and dark green.....

bits and pieces over the board, from finishing the walls of buildings, to window boxes, to florals...  sepia for the building and boxes, with the pair being red earth coated over with antelope brown...  floral include light green, sap green, and processed cyan...

Scraped the bottom of the sap green bottle, but managed to get the right building colored, as well as finished adding antelope brown to the rest of the woodwork on the lower right...
