took a little break, but found myself back at work last night, finishing the last leaf this morning... now, on to doing the marble shelf...

this section is just roughed in - is all in deep shade, but not wanted to blank it in darkness, so will later go over with the crow quill and detail it, as well as darken it to being just discernible...

Beginning new work, a b/w pen and acrylic ink, 16"x40" still life, all stipple for now...

for now, have made an end of it... will try for better photo in daytime, with no glare...

the background is almost finished with the grisaille, just more detailing with the fore wall part in the middle... 30"x48", pen and acrylic ink of imagined themescape...

but, slowly, the mists dissolves, and the vision begins more to appear...

since the background is a visualization of what the artist in the painting is doing, am wondering how much of the background do I really need to do, at least in detail - as if it was a work in progress... maybe light rock work on the rest of the wall, a few more housing scattered on the rest, and leave it as such...

having expected to having a relatively easy time of doing the background, instead found myself having a TERRIBLE time of getting anything close to what has been in my mind - so much so that have had to wipe the efforts three times ... am now on the fourth effort - and at last am getting progress

and the foreground of "REcreation", my imaginary landscape, is essentially done - now for the background, that vista of the artist figure described by her friend - the 're-creation'...

and the first layering of the grass is done...

on emerald green, the first layer of grass...

the cold has set me back at least a week, but keep plodding on - getting the courtyard almost done, and the figure shadows more or less correctly in, just the top of the yard to do and the grass yard itself, along with the figures... and a couple of slim trees to do, one for the rock garden and another for the inverse corner before the figures, coming up from below, which also means a sliver of the landscape below...

THEN can get on with the grisaille background, the view being sketched by the artist as the other describes it - the 're-creation'..

the process of layering in the grass glazes - emerald green, sap green, olive green, red earth, light green, processed yellow, dark green... the back edge having the most layers...

finished the tree, and the rest of the grisaille...

now to get on with glazing colors over the rest of the foreground...

Thought could make it all the way across, but too tired, else risk making mistakes... will try to finish tomorrow, and then get onto the trunk...

now all that is basically left to the foreground grisaille is to finish the grasses and detail the trunk - then can begin on glazing colors...

This was done a couple weeks earlier - the rest of the time has been trying to get the figures...

after much frustration with the figures, finally turned to doing it differently... here is the artist figure -

the leaves, finally, are down., and am on the trunk - after a number of delays and interruptions...

Am beginning a new painting, on 30"x48" primed canvas prepared with added gesso and a coating of gloss medium... working on the grisaille using Prussian Blue acrylic ink...
